If the weather holds I plan on riding tomorrow night at around 7pm. Likely do a few laps of the lower section in the South – MC up to the hospital and around.
Mellow pace, maybe an hour or so? More about the fun and getting out while the trail allows for it.
Any takers?April 18, 2016 at 11:39 am #810175

Hi all, I’m pretty new to mountain biking and just looking to start off with some easy trails. Is this a good place to start? Also just wondering if anyone knows of where I can find a trail map of some sort.April 25, 2016 at 12:56 pm #810316
Welcome to RFG @a_durbs The creek is a fun ride with nothing very advanced to worry about. There are some good climbs that will require a degree of fitness as well as many bench cut (off camber) sections that experience would help navigate. Other than that ride and your own level and enjoy. I wouldn’t call the trails easy, as they are fairly raw, but there is nothing you should be overly concerned about either.
There is a basic map here: https://www.ridingfeelsgood.com/ontario-mountain-biking-trails-etobicoke-creek/
Your best bet would be to join on of these rides early in the season and get shown the proper loop. many of us also go on weekends so just keep an eye out for rides posted here as well as the daily trail conditions thread.
Happy trails!April 25, 2016 at 1:12 pm #810343
@a_durbs welcome to RFG and the awesome world of mountain biking!
As far as the trails go we would be happy to show you around. There isn’t anything overly ‘hard’ in the Creek but getting a proper loop makes it a lot more fun! Are you fairly local?
Weds night rides they would be a good chance to get to meet some local faces and get a feel for the trails. Only tricky part is that we usually finish in the dark at this time of the year which can be an added layer of difficulty when getting the hang of things. However, don’t let this deter you – we can always arrange the ride to finish a little early if the need be.
You have found a great community here so don’t be shy!

Oh, I should add that I won’t be able to make the ride this week guys – Spring Concert, bummer. Don’t that stop you from having fun though.April 25, 2016 at 1:40 pm #810346
@a_durbs you’re in the right place. I just got back into mountain biking last year after a quite a few years off , the trails in Etobicoke creek are a great place to build skills. Just post up if you need a tour, works much better than a map. Hope to see you around!April 25, 2016 at 4:38 pm #810354
Awesome, I’m super pumped to come out for a ride soon!! Thanks!!!April 25, 2016 at 10:56 pm #810361
a_durbs (and all)…weekday rides are hard for me to make but I will hopefully be riding most weekends (either Sat or Sun.) starting from the baseball diamonds in Marie Curtis.
durbs I am probably a little greener than most here as well. If you want to hook up for a weekend ride let me know.
