I know a few of you have completed this amazing race. Who is signed up for this year? 70, 40, or 20km? What bike?

@somers just wrote this awesome piece about the famous p2a race. https://www.ridingfeelsgood.com/paris-to-ancaster-in-the-spring/

I haven’t heard from @ghettocruiser in some time. I hope he;s ok and the silence is just him putting in the work to crush this thing.

I should really do this thing one year.

    Great read @somers!

This really is a great race (event really) I have entered a few times dating back to my Hamilton days. It really is the kick in the face your need to get you back in the saddle after a long Winter. I can fully attest to full on leg cramps at the bottom of Martin’s Sideroad – brain saying keep going, legs saying, like hell! Unfortunately the race often falls on my wife’s birthday weekend resulting in my wisely opting out. Last time I rode it was 2013 a particularly muddy year note the height of the mud line on my forks in the pic below. My training that year included riding my new CX bike exactly twice prior to the race (my daughter was 3 months old at the time – baby 1: sleep 0)

Been awhile might start planting the seeds for an entry next year…

    Nice write up @somers

Returning for my second year of 70km early season insanity, hoping to not cramp before Martin’s Road climb and hoping for a middle pack finish rather than bottom third like last year. Training consisted of old school weight lifting, some riding including 83km last weekend and Don and back this weekend (approx 50km) and it’ll have to do.

This week will be focused on bike maintenance; need to pull the rack, fenders, bike trailer hitch off and clean and lube and install a new set of Nobby Nic 700×35’s on my ’86 Bianchi Volpe touring/cross bike.

DBG aka @skidvicious aka Greg will also be ‘racing’ not sure if his training will be adequate.

We’ll be in Wave 2 and went with the bus and truck option so we don’t need to go back the start line.

Best thing I saw last year was a guy that was also cramping just steer off the road into a soft embankment for a break as he couldn’t put a foot down without dying from the cramps.

See you out there, weather is looking promising.

Ha. Unfortunately Marc’s instincts were right, I am out this year with an injury. I’ll PM you.

Good luck to everyone racing this… and if you’re going to do it, you might as well leave everything on the course.

So bummed to hear. Hope you’re ok an it’s not serious. Healing vibes brother. You’ll live to kill it another day.

My buddy is doing it on his newly-built U.P. in the 40-49 Clydesdale class.

Good luck to all! If the rain forecast for this week doesn’t materialize you will have super conditions.

    Ya I’m in the 40km ( after a lousy March I stepped down to the 40km – can’t fake 70km)
Riding a CX bike I’m renting from Bateman’s.
Over 2000 people racing that day in all three events – incredible!

The article sure made me want to race it but it won’t happen this year. It’s on the radar for next year though. Good luck to all the participants.

I’m also doing the 40km, Wave 2. I didn’t use a trainer and like @mikester if not sure I’d survive the 70. Converted my old Rockhopper to drop bars just for this event (and for a rad around town bike).
