Looking to possibly get a new(er?) cross/adventure bike.
It won’t be used for any cross events but more specifically I’d like something I can ride from home on pavement and hook up to dirt paths, gravel roads and some singletrack.
I’ve looked at the Norco Threshold, Norco Search and Cannondale Slate. LBS has these brands too so that’s a plus.
I quite like the Threshold and there are some nice used ones around as they seem popular.
I guess I’m wondering if a racier platform like that could be a good all rounder or will the ergos, gearing etc. be a drawback?
FWIW I have an older Jake the Snake which, with a tire swap is probably perfectly capable for this but I’d like to upgrade to disc brakes.
Fat Bike and a 27.5 or 29+ wheel set for the dirt. Ask anyone that actually rides one and you’ll see the glow start immediately. It also gives you something to ride all winter outdoors. just make sure you get the rack mounts you want on the frame and fork and you’re all set.
Thanks for the replies guys.
I already have a 29er and a fatbike so I’m covered off road.
Micah, the prudent thing to have done would have been to keep the Jake and try it out but I pulled the trigger on a Threshold today.
The mistake was test riding a new bike. Ergos were far better than expected and couldn’t pass on the great deal that was offered.
Time to put in some kms…
