Welcome to RFG @thecyclinggym.
That sounds like an awesome idea. Quite a few roadies on the site that could be into this.April 5, 2016 at 9:56 pm #809976
Cant wait for the group karaoke version of Queen’s; Bicycle Race!April 16, 2016 at 10:40 am #810129
I’m leaning towards big ECreek ride and cab down. Not into partying in bike diapers. Thought? Who’s in form the west end?
Suggestion, if I may:
We could ride the Creek in a big ‘ol loop. Start off at Marie Curtis (Woody’s for a pre ride pint on the patio while people congregate?) head up the West side of the Creek to Dundas. Continue up the West side once across Burnamthorpe all the way up to 401 and then back down to Marie Curtis along the East side (which I personally thinks rides best North to South anyway).
I think it could be fun to ride it this way – I know @aerius and I have done it a few times. The only section you would have to double back on would be the short section of road around the Golf Course.
As for Karaoke, going to have to be a Fracture or Boneshaker kind of night rather than Cruiser to get me up singing!
Hey Westenders, we need to nail down our ride details for the big show on April 30th. I am good with the big loop starting from Marie Curtis. What time shall we start? I propose later in the day then we can all regroup and maybe share a ride down to the pub.
We need to get this nailed down so that we can print and roll out the poster with the ride on it.April 16, 2016 at 6:18 pm #810133
I work until 5pm. I’ll see what I can do.April 18, 2016 at 8:40 am #810154
Yup, I am in @fasttimes . I agree that we ride a little later in the day and then head down en masse if possible.April 18, 2016 at 9:09 am #810155
Ok guys, here are the ECreek ride deets.
Etobicoke Creek Ride
12:00 start from Marie Curtis Park.
3.5hrs ride time. Moderate Pace with bailouts.
Hope to see some west enders there. We can coordinate transport to and from west end on the ride. Come check out some new fun trails in the west end and meet some fellow members.April 18, 2016 at 10:30 am #810168
Really looking forward to the Cycling Season Launch Party on the 30th. I’m thinking a four hour, 420 style, spring fling, bigish dirty don ride is in order before the party.
Big(ish) Dirty Don Ride
2:00 start from Loblaws Redway lot.
Not quite sure of the route, but a Tuesday West ride with some East thrown in seems about right for April legs. I have it on good authority that Kitchen Sink has been getting some love and maintenance, so perhaps we come back South on that to sew our wild oats, and string it together with Motown or Quads. Then it is straight up Bunny Run to the brewery.April 18, 2016 at 11:52 am #810177April 18, 2016 at 3:45 pm #810186
Great you can make it @dexter01 Those two pictures of you from the fall ride (the one with the slivovitz, and the impromptu post ride yoga session) are some of my favorite from last year!April 18, 2016 at 4:09 pm #810188
I have invited @wall66, @rowlands, @cheesby, @reasbeck, @sammo, and the whole Colingwood crew to come down for this. As much as I want them to join me on the ECreek ride, many have never ridden the Don and I really want them to experience it with you guys and come to this great party with us.
I’m going to pony up for a hotel room for them if they come down. Has to be all of you guys though!April 19, 2016 at 4:23 pm #810202
Main article has been updated with all the rides: https://www.ridingfeelsgood.com/don-vivants-and-ridingfeelsgood-com-season-launch-party-at-amsterdam-brewery/
This is going to be awesome!April 24, 2016 at 10:47 pm #810289
I know most on this forum are pretty serious about bicycles, and damn good at riding them, but if anyone (or their friends) are looking for a casual, social spin, the urban pavement ride next week from Trinity Bellwoods is looking like it has potential for a pretty good time. I’ll admit, I thought about throwing a tallboy in my waterbottle cage and doing this instead of the big dirty.
Over the dinner table I sweet talked local artist Creepy Christine into joining, and she has made flowery, day of the dead head badges for the group. With rhinestones! You can’t really beat that, can you?

Oh wait, yes, we can beat that.
We are still going big and dirty (well, bigish and mildly defiled anyway) on Saturday at 2:00. All welcome, assuming that you can socialize at the brewery for as much time as we spend riding! This is the true test of Don fitness.
Remember to bring a snack and a fair bit of water as the fountains aren’t flowing yet.
If anyone wants to join en route, we’ll be at the cricket tree at 2:30, and will take a 10-15 min break in Sunnybrook park across from the stables at 3:30.April 25, 2016 at 10:30 am #810302
Think there is any room for a mid-level ride? I’ve been on the trail three times and not sure my winter bod is up for 40k and then a bunch of dehydrating socializing after. Thinking like 25-30k and a decent pace, so not the most beginner friendly. Lots of west and some east for good measure. Basically this is the ride I’ll be doing but I’m happy to make it a bit more organized if it works with the existing rides.

I think this is the ride you are looking for @jcitizen. I’d take that 40k with a bit of a grain of salt. Last fall we did 50k and it took about 7 hours, so I expect we will clock in a much less than that. The West and some East is what’s on deck, so I think you will be fine. And if not, you could always break off for a bit and rejoin. Unfortunately, now all I can think about is your winter bod so you may need to ride shirtless.
