Haha is Garbage Cow worth a ride?November 23, 2017 at 8:58 am #818206
There are a lot of trees on the Ridge and Crothers marked with numbers. I hope not too many have to get chopped down.November 23, 2017 at 3:47 pm #818216
Rode today about noon today
Flats, Ridge, Boo, Swamp, Wood Gundy and Motown were dry, fast and mostly leaf free. They seemed even drier than Tuesday in spite of the precipitation yesterday.November 24, 2017 at 8:46 pm #818229
Motown in beautiful shape today, only mud is on the flat right before the tree maze (tree down there, too).
Some poor fella got a lift outta Don East area in an ambulance.November 26, 2017 at 10:07 am #818239
Yesterday aft had some of the best conditions I’ve seen on Flowster / Foreplay in ages. Aside froma few little damp spots things were straight up heroic. To the rakers, you’re the best. Ride foreplay then cross the road to Fiveplay which is a shitshow, all due to leave cover and contained moisture. If you can rake, do it!November 26, 2017 at 11:57 am #818240
Looks like a beautiful week ahead. Higher up trails are fantastic, low down ones more prone to wet spots.
Beaver Flats – although the S and N ends are great, you’d best avoid the middle section below the powerline / Doobatorium. It’s super greasy and treacherous whether walking or riding, especially on the bridges. Not sure where all the water is originating from, but it’s streaming out of the hillside.
Ridge – big tree down towards the middle may still be there, although it has been 311’d.
BOT – scaffolding hasn’t been picked up yet and is still sitting in the middle of the trail.
Climbmax – greasy along Eglinton, but start/finish are good to go.November 26, 2017 at 3:37 pm #818242
Super busy out there today, thanks to near-perfect riding conditions. Tree still down on Ridge. New line around the erosion on Flats. Nice to see work still being done this late in the season! Someone filled in that little drainage gully on Boo with a bunch of sticks… helps in the short term I guess.November 27, 2017 at 8:36 am #818244
Also: this update on the sewer construction on Beaver Flats (fenced-off area opposite the archery range). Expect some heavy equipment, big holes, bigger smells, and disruption on both Boo and BF in the next month!
From the most excellent project manager: “After our initial survey of the structure it was deemed a priority to remove the most damaged portion. Moving forward a precast section has been ordered. We are expecting delivery in early December. This repair is scheduled to be completed before the end of December.”November 27, 2017 at 10:56 am #818245
Damn, great updates – my dropper got stuck down a few weeks ago and it looked liked riding was close enough to over to bother fixing immediately – I’m inspired to try for a rebuild tonight to get a few more rides in!November 27, 2017 at 7:55 pm #818247
Now that things are all globally warmed up, don’t assume there’s a good time to be without a functioning bike, with maybe late feb/early march as the exception. The last few years I’ve had great rides on real dirt on christmas day, new years day and well into January. Gotta be prepared! Late feb/march is usually when things really start to get messy in the don with the up & down weather as well as permafrosting which takes weeks to dry out.November 27, 2017 at 10:37 pm #818249
Hero dirt today from Boo on up to Foreplay via Swamp, Gundy, SHT, Asylum, Rehab and Hubber Flowsmith.
Anyone know decent alt parking now that Seaton is gated off? What’s wit dat sheet?November 27, 2017 at 10:47 pm #818250
Seaton gets gated off every fall about this time of year.
Best parking is likely in the southern most lot of Sunnybrook park, accessed off of Leslie, first left north of Eglinton., alternatively you can park in the Taylor Creek lot off of Don Mills, though that can be tricky finding the first couple of trips.
Stuff is getting frozen tonight and real warm tomorrow, expect a mixed bag by tomorrow evening.November 28, 2017 at 1:06 pm #818259
Rode today at 10;30. I started on Catalyst, Rim and PA. Strangely, they were all a little wet and slick where the trail was shaded from the sun. Areas that got sun were good. Many of the the climbs were slippery. Not as good as I thought they would be. Maybe the moisture will evaporate as the day progresses. I then went to Motown which is south facing and catches the late season sun. Motown was in excellent condition, only wet in a couple of spots. It was a pleasure to be outdoors in this weather!November 29, 2017 at 5:09 pm #818266
Best conditions all year, IMO. Can’t remember seeing any mud in Crothers or the Ridge. Bunny and Dirt and Poop, aces.
Boy does it make a difference to my legs starting the ride with Dirt Farm rather than ending it thus. 🙂November 29, 2017 at 8:04 pm #818267

The dew is real this time of year. Can be bone dry at night then as the temps drop the dew falls and puts a nice little blanket of grease on wood & clay.
As for Bunny Berm Droppings, that last turn right has been adjusted, right? I’m clearing it and seem to remember it being stupid before.
Thanks to all rakers & makers! Stuff is amazing right now. Go find a trail with no maintenance to see how much less rideable things are naturally this time of year.
