The wildlife does not scare easily. That beaver that lives near the climbmax trail was out on the paved path, dragging a large branch. Along the paved path in full view of spectators, rather than say through the grass where it might have been less obvious.

Depends on the wildlife I guess. Me and a buddy were riding the up line from Pottery Rd parking lot on Saturday when two adult deer came charging down the trail towards us and only veered off at the last second! I’m assuming something up higher on the hill freaked them out, but that was definitely a first… would have made for an interesting war story if they had collided with us.

There’s a young doe that’s on the flats and by the DJs often, I’ve been up close to it, maybe 5 ft away, enough to touch it (although I don’t, obviously). I’ve got a video of it that I’ll share if you see me down there.

Yeah I came very close to running straight into it on the flats the other day. It didn’t even move, just stood there and looked at me from a few feet away.

Thats the girl. She was wagging her tail when I last saw her. I’m worried she’ll get hit by a trail since she crosses by the DJs twice a day, so hopefully doesn’t happen like before.

I also have footage of that doe. She seems to have issues getting over the other side of the fence. I didn’t want to report anything in fear that the city will shoot and kill the doe (quite the history of animal killings lately). She seems friendly, and not too scared of us, so long as we don’t smash into her…I think we should all take caution and slow down on the flats because of this…also, if she does get startled, one kick from her hooves and our teeth go flying…

What happened to that bunny run forum? Some one mentioning that it’s getting pretty bad..? Well, i did it in both directions recently, first time doing it too. I’d say it’s pretty okay other than this hole about mid way going back south (starting from the archery range). Didn’t notice it going north though. But something to watch out for…or even better, to be patched up.

Dr quads seems to be falling apart pretty badly. Those bridges are getting pretty brittle and one of them completely fell apart. The skinny board near the end also got moved over due to massive erosion. Anyone planning to do work on dr quads? I’m in.

STD is totally doable from the recycling plant side heading back to the massive rock garden.

    @d4n:

Bunny – has a trail ferry that has been diligently working on maintenance sections for the last few weeks from what i can tell. lots of new shoring / grading / drainage implement. much thanks to the maintainer’

Quads – two of the bridges need help. The first one (when heading west) is now off chamber and requires re-shoring on the western edge. As well the one you mentioned … 2″x8″x4ft plank over the erosion gorge. The other bridges on Quads are of sound construction and totally ridable with/without speed (went through em this week too)

*note: Motown / lower Motown return and Quads are a NIGHTMARE with foliage … i ain’t going back till after frost.

Hello riders. I’m the trail fairy on upper bunny. I ride it to and from work and I like my flow speed to be a bit high. I am aware of the “bunny run hole” and plan too fix it up so it doesn’t get worse. It’s a fine line for me of flow vs too easy. Another section that I plan to pay attention to is section of the Sunnybrook trail that climbs out onto a flat on top of the ravine. Very “worn out” and needs some shoring up. I ride with some Good riders and even they feel the flow and climb is compromised due to the erosion. Anyhow, all it takes it is the decision to repair instead of ride for one day, gather some “hands on deck” and lots could be done.

Big thanks to whoever fixed the bottom of the big g-out on the ridge. That hole was getting scary, super smooth now.
Anyone know how to deal with that massive tree down? Is that something the city will take care of eventually or are we on our own?

The G out with the nice little jump? It’s a fun line.

With regards to the tree, there’s someone working on it currently. I do not expect the city to deal with it any time soon, so this trail fairy is currently cutting it, another trail fairy is accumulating wood for a feature over it. More trail fairies are welcome, DM me.

Another Monday and a bit more love put into the Pottery Road trail head. The final descent back into the lot got a hair cut (you can actually see down the trail!) A couple of poorly draining areas got some attention (a few still to go). The stray fall line trail from top to bottom got sufficiently closed off (snow fence, tread destroyed, and a healthy does of brush).

After the holiday long weekend we’re looking at tackling another section of the climb to clean it up before getting the final braided root covered climb sorted out. Always looking for good hands looking to give back a little (Monday 6-8p) email trails@toronto.ca if you’re interested in lending a hand!

Rode this morning from Pottery to BOT and everything was in great shape, ranging from bone dry to slightly tacky. There was some light rain as I left, but I doubt it was enough to make things muddy.

Looking forward to that descent, @blurredlines! Worth an extra climb back up to Loblaws on my ride this afternoon for sure. See you on the 8th for some more trail work fun!

Glad you’re excited for it, and looking forward to seeing you out again! As long as the weather is good and no other segments becomes a priority we should be looking at tackling one of the final two segments we haven’t touched up/reworked on that climb out of the lot. We’ve got old stones to pull out and make some sense of over the excessively eroded roots near the half way point. Hope folks are enjoying it, and hope their able to lend a hand some time. We’ve gained a lot of traction in the trail work end of the stewardship this year and it’d be nice to carry that momentum into making sure we’re riding the trails we want, built well, by our hands.

    See you out there!

Also, on-topic anyone been out to the East lately? Thursday ride still heading out there? Puppy is finally done classes and I’m dying to go riding!

@blurredlines; I was talking to a rider who went out east last night – He did not recommend it. Apparently the bush and red ants are in full force.

I’m looking forward to seeing you out riding again!
