Thanks for the update. Such a bummer.

    Ditto – bummer!

Interesting (and aggravating) how we went from dust to slop…

Was just in the north loop doing some trail work. Conditions can be summed up as “forget about riding”. Downed branches & trees in many places and all the overgrowth I trimmed back 2-3 weeks ago has grown back, and then some. It’s pretty much time to put away the bikes for a week and break out the trimmers, saws, and shovels.

Mud bogs on the north loop are finally down to an acceptable size. Ride & enjoy, till it rains again.

Thanks @aerius! Great news. Hope to get in there later this week, @fietser should be back in town as well and will be happy to hear this.

    Thanks for updates!

Hey gents! Greetings from the Great White (Green) North!

Weather while camping in Algonquin was abysmal. Lowlight was cooking dinner is ankle deep water on our site. Highlight saw a bear (walk through our site) and a Bull Moose ( also meandered through our site). Had hoped to ride the Minnesing Trail but the deluge hampered that endeavor.

Back in town Wedsnesday and plan on riding the weekly that evening.

Thanks for the updates @aerius. Perhaps we can orgainize a work party through RFG to get things back in shape. Anyone interested in lending a hand?

Couple trees down near the railroad bridge on the east side of the south loop. One of them is a good sized hanger that looks like it’s gonna be a pain to remove.

The entire south loop is badly overgrown. Definitely need to get a crew in there with hedge trimmers and weed whackers. North loop is also overgrown north of Matheson and the swamp on the northernmost section is back again.

Hey guys. Can’t ride tonight but I did get in this morning for about 2 hours of trimming. Feel super bad that I have been so absent lately as a result I got out to do some work. Rode up to Dundas and then worked my way back South.

Focused mostly on blind corners and increasing visibility. Didn’t get the whole section cleared as I ran out of time. Happy to get back out there with some help.

Glad to be back out on the Creek.

Just got back from a ride with @fietser and happy to report that the Matheson loop is golden.

Very overgrown overall though. May need to get a crew and rent a fleet of weed walkers to cut it back.

Trails are in great shape otherwise.

I went through yesterday and the trails were all in decent shape, with only a few soft ruts along the northern section. The overgrowth is only really out of hand at the end of the Matheson loop and the short section across the field leading back to Ellington. I’ve been stopping and cutting worst offenders along the rest of the loop.

    Happy Trails!

Rode northern loop again today. Bone dry. Cutting back growth where I can. Beauty day!

Just got back from a great albeit HOT ride with @fasttimes.

Conditions were HOT and dry as a bone.

Thanks a million to whoever cut that massive hanger just North of the tracks in the South section.

Yesterday was great indeed @fietserr. Today felt even hotter in there. Like breathing marshmallows through a straw. Was going to try and do a double-header; join the crew for tonights’ weekly but just fried now. I hope the rest of you make it out. Bring lots of water.

I pulled some more brush along the way so hope it helps a bit. Lots of work needs to be done in there so still keen to get us together and TKOB.

    Happy Trails!

Did the northern loop today, post-storm. Conditions were actually the best this month as it’s been so dry. No puddles or water to speak of. Tad greasy but nothing dicey and not enough to damage the trails.

Down trees were abundant however. I cleared roughly 15 smaller limbs across the trail but a few big ones were not removable

The largest was just as you get spit out of west side heading north just prior to poping out at bridge and dropping into Matheson loop. I’ll head in tomorrow with my saw and think I can make this passable without a reroute.

The other, which sucked, was the wall climb on the back of the Matheson loop. I hammered up the first pitch and had it only to find a large limb down across the climb. I’ll also try to cut this out tomorrow.

I cleared everything else including this guy.

Up side is the dirt is promo!
