I’ve been working on a downed tree near the start of the Matheson trail just before the clay bank that always needs benching.
Small trees/bushes that were caught up in it have been trimmed back and I cut one section off the bottom of the tree itself.
I was hoping not to have to do another cut but it still won’t quite slide down the hill yet without a little more coaxing.
If anyone is riding with someone else or in a group see if you can muscle it the rest of the way down.
Thanks to the two riders (sorry, already forgot your names) I met last week who dropped off the skids at the 2 northern creek crossings.

Trail is now fenced off on both sides & both directions at the Eglinton bridge. There are ways around but it’s a pain in the butt and requires some road sections. I’ve been hacking away at the bushes and the trail is reasonably clear from Rathburn to the pedestrian bridge south of Matheson, haven’t had a chance to clear out anything north of that yet.

Rode the south loop for the first time in almost a month yesterday and it’s badly overgrown. It’s mostly grass & brush which I don’t have the tools for clearing.

I haven’t been in there yet this summer. No interest in riding in there at all at this point. Riders had is so good last season with trails being maintained and all the brush trimmed back. But after a Trailforks rider tore out other builders drainage work this spring, I am done with it. His stunts add nothing to the trails and despite @fietser reaching out to him in a very professional and cordial manner this spring, he has shown no interested in being part of a greater community, who’s goal is to maintain and advocate for these trails. Little by little we’re losing it.

I did notice from the 401, on the way back from my ride west of the city, that there is also construction at the 401 by the big climb north of Matheson.

Anything you can do helps aerius. I’ve been working away all season as well.
Spent 3 hrs. in the south loop yesterday clearing the worst sections.
Still overgrown but better. Short of a chain gang with scythes it may stay that way.
I don’t mind it a little rough around the edges…keeps the tourists away. lol

Went from Lakshore to Centennial park loop today. South section is very overgrown. Cenntennial park loop is in pretty good shape other than the overgrown open fields. Thank you to whoever filled in the massive rain rut in the Dundas section of the trail.

Rode the creek top to bottom on the curly bars today. Its been nearly a year since I have been in there. Most of it is in good shape. Lots of ruts and obvious traffic. Motos have torn up a few sections. 4-5 large trees down below Dundas. Looking on Strava, TF and Insta, riders are in there pretty much daily but no work done to maintain the trail.

I haven’t ridden in there since last fall.
Actually haven’t turned a wheel of any kind since fall due to a spine issue but that’s another story.
Hoping to get back to some sort of riding sooner than later.
Unfortunately beyond light brush clearing, I can’t see much trail maintenance coming from my end anytime soon…

Really sorry to hear about your back issues @allantats. Hope things start to improve and you’re able to ride this season.

You’ve got lots of blood equity in the creek trails. Be nice if others paid that forward so you can just enjoy the trails and work you’ve put in.

I did a lot of clearing today. Made it easier to get around all the fallen trees. Still lots of trees down. Its like a war zone in there after the wind storm and then ice storm. Weather looks nice tomorrow so ill continue trying to clear some more out.

There are about 6 trees left from the hospital to Dundas. The motorbike kids are in there eating up the trail.

I been clearing trees for a few weeks now. Someone in there thinks its a good idea to start blocking parts of the trail again. I had to deal with the same problem last year also.

    Where is that @carpetbomber ?

I rode the northern loop as part of a bigger 130km ride yesterday. Some drainage issues were repaired by another rider, thanks. Lots of trees down after the recent storm.
