I just got my replacement shock back, I was not sure if I was going to get it back in time for the weekend. Given all the rain in the past two days are things going ahead as planned? If so count me in. @marley I am in for apres if this thing is still a go.October 21, 2016 at 3:27 pm #813906
Oh, @baillout You should be more concerned about the chance of flurries early tomorrow, and the 60km/h gusts of wind. Of course we are on!October 21, 2016 at 7:23 pm #813907
Hey @marley – just trying to work out how much I need to bring with me tomorrow in terms of water and food – think we’ll be stopping at any points for these things…. or just sipping puddle water.October 21, 2016 at 8:04 pm #813908
Most of us will have packs with water bladders, lunch, some snacks and our most essential item… a flask . Though Don puddle water may pack more of a punch? Being in the city, there is always an opportunity to pop out for some sustenance if desperately needed, but it’s not in the plans.October 21, 2016 at 11:07 pm #813910
Puddle water it is for me – see you all tomorrow.October 22, 2016 at 8:39 am #813911October 25, 2016 at 1:04 am #814051
What a ride! Thanks for everyone that made the day so damn fun. 18 came out and braved the frosty temperatures, insane wind gusts and slick leaves. Somehow we had fantastic weather and trail conditions (again). 8 masochists grinded it out to the end. I’m still recovering.
Strava says we did about 60k and the vast majority of it was trail. My Strava also shows that somehow we traversed 1,503 meters of elevation. To give that some context, that is 4m less than the lift access bike trails at Whistler. And we did not even go North of Lawrence!!! Incredible.
The route we did was curated and considered, but kudos to the four hardcore Don mofos that helped string some of the tricky bits together so perfectly.
We had a separated shoulder and some leg trauma, but no mechanicals so we’ll consider that a win? Those without trauma will consider it a win, anyway.
And kudos to @grahamlockett who indeed showed up with basically nothing and killed the ride with Don puddle water. Like it was nothing. Not sure if I am impressed, afraid, or both.
Below are some pics from myself and @veteran_youth . I spammed the photos section with lots more so if you were on the ride browse through, there is probably some good ones of you in there. Wooooo!
