All-mountain Bike rental near Toronto?
-
Are there any stores that do all-mountain bike rentals in or near TO? I’ve got a friend coming in from the US for a weekend at the end of the month and would like to have three or four rides on some local trails. It’s a family affair so nothing intense – probably a couple hours in the north Don and another two or three similar rides at 3 Stage up near Collingwood – basically, a Friday to Monday type deal.
Any suggestions or tips?
Pretty sure most major shops do $100/day rental – Prob get something from the mjr brands around the LBS – Norco, Rocky, Santa Cruz, Trek, Intense, etc
Check – Batemans’, Cycle Solutions, Sweet Petes’, etc.
@cyclesolutions
Thanks for the heads-up – I’d called around to a few of the bike shops in midtown but they only rented road/hybrids.
Anyone have recommendations for good stores in the middle or north of the city?
Yea – hit up Silent Sports in Richmond Hill – they are AWESOME guys and deal with Rocky. Norco, Devinci
or
@ Don Mills and Eglinton – Skiis and Biikes might be an option – only ever stopped in to grab a few things en route to the trail head.
I think the only two places that rent proper trail bikes are Harwood and Buckwallow, but you have to ride them there.
I have seen a few post like these over the years and I don’t think I ever heard of anyone renting anything but road or commuter bikes like you pointed out.
Sporting Life, Trek, Skiis & Bikes, Gears, Silent Sports, MEC – none of them rent MTB.
It sounds like Cycle Solutions does rent, but only from the Beaches store. It’s pretty out of the way for me so I’ll try Sweet Petes and Batemans as well, and a few more of the stores around.
Cycle Solutions in the Beaches is now $200/day for bikes (!!) with that credit applied to a new purchase. Sweet Petes is only Saturday-Sunday from the Brickworks location – we needed it on Friday in Toronto. Batemans is pretty reasonable but they do not have a Large bike for rental because it will be out for a couple months for repairs.
So I guess there’s not really any viable options in Toronto for a MTB bike rental – geez. We’re going to head up near Collingwood for the whole weekend instead, and are renting a Bad Habit from Kamikaze bikes at a reasonable $50/day.
