Split the difference!
I’m biased but I think you should check out something like the Thunderbolt BC edition (or modify another spec level if its not in your price range). It is 120 mm rear travel and 130 mm front (bc edition only). With the adjustable geo via the ride 9 chip you can set it up pretty much to do whatever you want!
I’ve told them…[Read more]

Tpratt replied to the topic What is your bar length? in the forum THE DON VALLEY 3 years, 3 months ago
I only have one bike, my altitude, and between enduro racing, DH riding and Trail Riding, I prefer a wider bar. I have mine at 780 because I found the stock 800 just a little too burly. This seems to be a good width for all round riding.

1 – prices from oneup didnt seem that bad when I was checking it out… I havn’t tried one but I’m interested for sure.
2 – I found some of this interview interesting if you read between the lines since he is an ambassador for them. however as the article points out, he could have any chainring that he wants at this point.…[Read more]
Tpratt replied to the topic HR II vs Ardent rear tire in the forum THE DON VALLEY 3 years, 6 months ago
I’m running the new maxxis aggressor tires and they are an awesome compromise, they roll way faster than the HRII but have way more traction than an ardent. I’m actually running it front and rear. I got the front in the super light EXO casing and the rear in the Double Down casing because I mostly ride at blue and 3 stage.
Highly recommend this tire.

Tpratt replied to the topic Giant USA to sell direct to consumers online by August in the forum TALKING ABOUT BIKES 3 years, 10 months ago
Interesting model.
Does anyone know if this is the first time an online sale by the company will still contribute to the local shops bottom line. I like that they are still making it possible for the LBS to survive. Also with a 80% margin on non stock items, that seems like they’re being pretty generous and making holding inventory a lot less risky.
Tpratt replied to the topic 2016 Riding Goals in the forum TALKING ABOUT BIKES 3 years, 10 months ago
I’m trying to ride at least once every week in 2016. I know thats not really a big thing (especially in the summer when it will be easy), but with my schedule its going to be a bit tricky. Theres just so much to do in the winter! Ski, board, hockey and riding already ticks off four days of the week!
I also plan on riding a ton more than I did…[Read more]

@fasttimes Im using the stock blizzard -30 tires (Vee Rubber Bulldozer folding 26″ X 4.7″). Let me know any time you’re up Marc, this stuff is right out my front door.

I rode some of the craigleith snowshoe trails this weekend. I’m not sure whether you’re technically supposed to or not but everyone I encountered was super stoked to see a bike out and had lots of questions, so just goes to show if you show trail etiquette then things should be ok.
Some of the climbs (pretty steep ones in that area) were a huge…[Read more]
