The tree is on the ground. Another option besides cutting it would be to build a bridge or a ramp over it… If I had time, I would of spend some time in there and build something.
There is no off-season for me…I’ve been an all year round commuter here in Mississauga for the past 13 years. I also mountain bike and ride recreationally all winter long….I cross-train all year round to supplement my cycling…Kettlebells, clubbells and bodyweight calisthenics are my favourite forms of exercise for maintaining my strength…[Read more]
There is a very large tree across the west side trail just North of Eglington where the trail runs along the fence. The tree was too big to cut with my folding saw so I just left it there. It needs to have some type of a bridge or ramp build over it or be cut with a chain saw…There was also a huge big mess of broken trees and large branches…[Read more]
It was a cool start this morning with frost in some areas…I rode from Mississauga into Oakville and then all the way to Bronte Creek Provincial Park. This place has a nice network of gravel trails and singletrack running very close to the ridge along Bronte Creek. After riding the trails I turned around and rode back home the same way. It’s a…[Read more]
I’ve done many different urban loops mixed with some rural gravel routes. On of favourite rides that I do sometimes is 165 km long. I am an early riser and like to start my rides early in the morning. I leave my home early and ride form Mississauga to Hamilton and then ride the Rail Trail from Hamilton to Brantford and then come back…I also had…[Read more]
I was thinking of riding Uxbridge to Lindsay rail trail at some time, just one day trip as I can’t do overnighters at this time. I’ve never been to Uxbridge and am not familiar with this area. My question is where is the best place to park my vehicle, that’s closest to the trailhead ?… Multi day off-road bike packing trips is something that I…[Read more]
This morning a section of the trail just North of Sherway Drive was blocked off by a large fallen tree. I cut the tree and moved it out of he way…Other than that, the trails were clear all the way to Matheson.
Erindale has been one of my favourite riding spots for many years, especially during winter, I live very close to it…I used to have a route which took me all the way from Dundas to north of Hwy 407. There used to be some short singletrack and dirt trails north of Derry Rd and Hwy 407. There were also few short trails around Streetsville, North…[Read more]
Had a good ride early this morning. Trails were dry and clear…I can see some problems with erosion along the steep narrow section of the trail just south of Dundas street. This section is definitely going to need some work in the near future.
I had a great ride today. Rode all the way up to Matheson and then down to Sherway Dr and then back home.. Thanks to whoever cut that big tree on the west side trail. I brought my saw with me today just in case but didn’t need to use it, everything was clear. The Matheson loop is getting a little bit rough in some spots… Erosion is making…[Read more]
I was riding along the west side of the trail today between Burnhamthorpe and Eglington and there was a big tree about 8-10 inches in diameter blocking the trail. Almost had to crawl on the ground to get over. The tree is closer to the Eglington side where the trail runs along the fence. I didn’t have the saw with me or else I would of cut it.
