I’m loving the helpful and quick responses here folks. I have a busy week but I’ll try to get in on the weekend with a saw as well.
What @fasttimes said here is definitely helpful. Adding a photo, as well as something that can add scale to that photo, will help to decide which tool to bring to the trail 🙂
@singleandfixed what is the name of that trail according to TrailForks with the tree down. I might be able to get to it with my cordless chainsaw.
I’ve almost finished similar work on the Matheson trail.
I was back again today with the blower and worked in a little booter where the tree was down. Lip isn’t perfect because I was stopped by a broken handle on my McLeod.
I’ll be back and like @fasttimes said to work on the over growth and brush. Trail also needs some bench cutting as well. I’ll see what I can do.
Matheson loop had two big trees down. I got one this evening. The second is about shoulder height on its side and might need a trail feature added to it 🙂
I’m also going to try and bring a blower through there. It definitely needs it. Thank goodness for the tent sail at Atlas Tools over the weekend —gotta chainsaw and blower for a smokin dea…[Read more]
I have a confession to make: I did some work on RFG connector tonight — I limbed a tree that was hanging over the rock roll.
Perhaps some of you enjoyed avoiding the tree branch while shooting over the rocks — for that I am sorry.
I hope this post strikes up the conversation about what work that needs to be done and how we can unite and to do…[Read more]
@fasttimes I would look into a warranty issue with the Kicker. Their customer service is said to be top notch. DC Rainmaker (a top youtuber) had the CEO of Wahoo address all the problems they were currently facing and some fixes for Kickers specifically.
Great discussion here! Thanks for the ideas and motivation to do something wild……. I did it. I pulled the trigger over the holiday. I bought my airline tickets and an AirBnB for my family. June 29th to July 27th We’re heading to Squamish!!
The plan is for myself and another riding buddy (y’all are welcome to join) to be out West the wee…[Read more]
Yep. The holidays, a cold and not-so-comfortable Road saddle have made training a little inconsistent. Part of me felt tight about missing out on some good training opportunities but the older I get the more I recognize it’s a process. We can’t control injuries or illness (or in-laws visiting) but if you’ve developed a habit of putting in the w…[Read more]
Thanks @fietser. I think you nailed it on the head. I agree, I don’t like leaving a place feeling that I’ve rushed through it. Whenever you get to hang out with locals it makes the trip that much more memorable.
Having said that ……… the camaraderie you get at enduros I’ve raced thus far have been off the chart
So here’s a question for ya:…[Read more]
I’ve been asked to do the Quebec Single Track Experience with a friend who is resistant to race. So we may just do this “experience” self-guided. That way we can enjoy the ride, perhaps session a few sections, rest when needed and then take in the action at Worlds in Mount Saint Anne.
How is Mont Blanc 2019 sounding??
That trip sounds awesome. A group of friends are doing a similar trip. See the link below:
I would go except timing doesn’t work out for me. Being a High School teacher that has a summer off to THEN take the second week of September off to do a mountain bike trip doesn’t…[Read more]
@fasttimes sorry to be a bother man but I’m still having problems on the Forum.
1) I still can’t find where you bumped my thread to — this forum newbie understands you bumped my question to the top of this thread “Off Season Training” OR perhaps you started a new thread called something like “events and races”. Either way I can see the…[Read more]
@fasttimes You know Wayne Burnzee as well I see. We rode together in Squamish a few years back. That guy is a diesel engine!! Look forward to hearing about your Epic rides is 2019 — perhaps I’ll join you on a few.
Sorry for the slow response Marc (my account isn’t notifying me when someone replies on the forum for some reason).
I liked your suggestions of books to read. I was impressed by Rich Roll’s story; enough so that I might just take my eyes off of Pinkbike videos for once and read a paperback book! I will add, my wife wasn’t as impressed when…[Read more]
What I am doing this off-season is getting my nutrition dialed.
*** I’m understanding “off-season” to mean “What are you doing to come back next season ????”
It appears to me most of the folks here understand the benefit of pushing weight. I agree whole heartily — there is no mistaking how “lifting” can prevent injury, help you recover, etc.…[Read more]
