  • Sawmill Ski Trails in Hepworth

    or

Our local trails in Owen Sound which require local direction

Out of the Bruce County trails Brant Tract is the best.

The area is mostly known for flat, rocky, technical trails. But our local in OS are tons of fun, very similar to the Don.

  • Wait what you live in Meaford???? So do I. Technically. I am on the western edge of the municipality so I do everything in Owen Sound. Have you ridden Owen Sound lately? The trails in Smiths Bush are excellent and new stuff is being built all the time. Let me know if you ever want a tour. Cheers, Mike

There is a map of the course. Some good tight turns. The high end guys are really fun to watch, it’s quite packed. The category I ran in was about 10 guys. It was a good battle with 3-5 guys up front and I came 3rd. I think I’d be more timid and afraid in some of the upper categories they are fast and tight.

  • 3 items on my calendar that are bike related

June 24 – 100km Ride Don’t Hide – Grey Bruce. It’s a beautiful ride for a good cause in my backyard

Blue Mountain Enduro – If all lines up schedule wise I hope to race this year.

July 29 – War on the Shore Crit – Southampton, Ontario – A fun crit put on by Martin’s Bike Shop as part of Southampton’s…[Read more]

  • Hey Kris,

Mine was gone for about 2 weeks but that was due to it arriving on the day of service which was a Friday. Then I hadn’t heard anything by the next Tuesday so I called. That got it moving but it was done right before the July long weekend.

It now has the blue seal factory upgrade which should provide greater reliability.

Thanks guys. My Fox pump doesn’t have that 2 stage engagement, like the topeak one, it was pretty cheap. I will look into those 2 pumps as a replacement.

  • MikeC replied to the topic Getting True Shock PSI in the forum TECH TALK 2 years, 11 months ago

Yeah that is it. Wonder if any shops around here carry them.

Very true and that’s my current methodology. Finding the zero loss adapter was the inspiration for the post, to see if many others were using one. I am not a “tuner” I am a set and forget kinda guy, but since getting the CC DB Inline and dealing with it failing I was interested in tracking it more. I know Marc and others are very in tune and…[Read more]

Not sure what you mean by back off the valve before disconnecting. Are you talking about the pump threads still being engaged when the pump releases the needle of the valve?

I was more looking for a way to track shock performance. You are correct in that the sag is the important setup measurement but if I track that I have to add X more psi…[Read more]

  • Is anyone using an adapter or highend pump to ensure you get a true psi reading from your shock pump?

I found a moto shop that produces an attachment.

Just curious for those who are active suspension tuners what you use to ensure you are getting a true measurement.

  • OK thought I would provide an update. I got my shock back. I now know if I start hitting pedals my shock is toast now.

One tip, if they say you are booked in for service on a specific date make sure your shock arrives the day before. Mine was booked in and arrived at 11:45am the service day (they open at 11am). But because of that it didn’t…[Read more]

  • I have my inline going to SuspensionWerx for this Friday. Confirmed that as part of the rebuild updated Piston and sealhead are installed. SW did say they are seeing increased reliability with these updated parts. That was the earliest they could book me in, I emailed on 6/13 so 10 days is the current queue. Turn around is said to be ~3…[Read more]

  • Thanks @nomadmark and @renegade-hardware

I spent the morning reading many mtbr posts etc on the DB Inline. It does sound like any autorized service center is putting in upgraded parts during a rebuild. I am likely going to send mine to suspensionwerx but want to confirm its getting the new parts on a rebuild. I might call down to Eastsides and…[Read more]

  • I am thinking I am having some trouble with my DB Inline now. I noticed on last nights ride that the climb switch is no longer providing much help. I think something is up with the shock. It’s also making that squishing/slurping noise. The shock is still working well on the downs but its quite bobby. I was not hitting pedals last year on the…[Read more]

  • Kris is this for your Sight? I have a 2016 Sight. Not related to the shock but have you struggled with the low BB, and catching pedals? Coming from a bike with a much higher BB I am still getting use to the lower BB. I’ve added some LSC to try to reduce the pedal bob and its better just wondering if you have any other experience. I am…[Read more]

  • Why not push the extra 15 km up to Owen Sound and then take the complete Tom Thomson Trail to the Georgian Trail from OS to Meaford.

That would take you by my house and Coffin Ridge Winery 🙂

Also my buddy Wayne would love to do that ride. He’s an animal. Based in TO. Does a lot of these types of rides.

  • I was in your boat 2 months ago and ended up with a Norco Sight 7.2C. I love it.

140mm and 27.5″ for fun and an all-round do all bike.

I didn’t want something for epic 8 hour rides that could roll over everything . I ride 1-2 hour power rides and love to hop, skip and jump off anything I can find on the trail.

Here is my thread this…[Read more]

  • The “jock strap” is simply a head mount, so the lights can be used for camping etc. Cut it off and zip tie the light mount to your helmet. Easy peasy . I don’t advocate these lights for any one racing or out far from home. But for the peeps who just want to get out for 1-2 hours after the kids go to bed on known trails close to home without…[Read more]
