Forecast for Saturday the 26th is looking glorious, so to confirm, we are on for the BDDR!
Meetup is 9:00am and note that we are breaking from tradition and congregating at the bottom of Stan Wadlow Park, in Taylor Creek. If you are unsure where that is, check out the handy map:
All welcome! But please keep in mind this will be a hard 60-70km…[Read more]

More details coming soon!

The tree down on Rehab has been cleared. Bypassed the Swamp yesterday, but made the mistake of riding SHT which was a disaster. The same is true for non river side Boo. I’d say skip them both for now. Also, the exit from Bunny closer to the archery range spits you out into a grassy lake. The other exit closer to the path is the much better option!…[Read more]

Sweet ride @fasttimes ! I don’t believe for a second that you enjoy climbing that beast and much as descending on it, but looking forward to seeing if you can duplicate your 10 earned laps insanity. Or better yet, stitching together that Collingwood epic!

Phew! Finally recovered from this! Pictures have been uploaded to the photos section.
What an amazing ride this was – there was snow, there was sun, and there was a very ill advised and poorly executed river crossing. True Grit. Thanks to everyone that braved the frigid temps and made the day so damn great!

Heads up, apparently there was some sort of chemical spill in Taylor Creek originating at St. Clair and Vic Park and heading downstream:

It may not be any more serious than the normal contaminants, but maybe keep those canine friends out of the waters for a few days.

Expect a chilly one tomorrow! This will be a record cold BDDR and if we are lucky, we may even get some snow – though the forecast is calling for mostly sunshine. Dress for the cold, and do what you gotta do to keep warm. Flasks encouraged.
We have an amazing route planned, and it’s going to deviate from last years epic. As it turns out, we e…[Read more]

Denial. A head space I can often very comfortably exist in. But with the start of this ride roughly 40 hours away and given the overnight forecast of rain, and tomorrow’s forecast of more rain (to say nothing of the weekend), I need to accept that this is not happening Saturday.
However, next weekend is looking much more promising, so we’re pus…[Read more]

Crushed you will be out of the country for this one @blurredlines! Though it is November so weather could force us to push it back.
And great point about mechanical self-reliance. We try to avoid dropping people for the most part, but for this ride… well, the pack must survive!

“Remember, remember the third of November. The funday dirt and trees…”
So given how close the ride is this year to November 5th, we’re embracing the (mild) civic disobedience side of the BDDR this year in the spirit of Guy Fawkes day! Though there will be no riots or storming of parliament, some minor trespassing on golf courses and bi-law…[Read more]

Hey @tabonej , sorry we lost you in the Swamp! These days we typically ride right through there and regroup doing laps of Gundy.

Strange. The Phase 1 map was changed to remove the The “Future Gatineau Trail” reference, and the link updated. It can now be found here: https://yoursay.ca/4278/documents/11567
Thanks @repack The Phase 3 route does not bode well for Kitchen Sink. I assume considerations need to be made for the Eglington LRT, and I am not sure if that impacts tim…[Read more]

Heads up I saw that a construction notice was posted for the East Don trail project, which will build that long planned multi-use (paved) path connecting the forks (Taylor Creek off leash area) with the path near Moccasin Trail Park (Rainbow Tunnel). Phase 1 and Phase 2 which is North of Eglington will begin next month, and both are expected to…[Read more]

Sounds like a plan! Sorry to have missed you @fasttimes . I was told there was a North loop using both sides of the river, but hunger and some questionable earlier decisions were taking their toll so after turning around, I quickly gave up on the West side and went back the way I came on the East. Next time.
It was neat picking up on some of the…[Read more]

I ventured out to the Creek for the first time on Saturday and everything I found around Centennial Park seemed to be riding really well! Great job @fasttimes @braindamaged and @dirtseeker ! There is so few people out there compared to the Don. I did not see a single other rider, and only a few peds on the paved paths that were all super friendly…[Read more]
