It was actually pretty manageable to ride with enough speed (and I’m not on anything fancy), but for me it was definitely the technical crux of the ridge northbound. I’m sure there were reasons, but it’s a little sad to see the ridge neutered.
Out of curiosity, why was this considered necessary? I always felt like that was one of the better technical challenges on the Ridge heading northwards.
You did a great job closing the old. I didn’t even notice it and was all confused.
There’s a fallen tree blocking the trail in the first third or so of Motown.
Conditions as of yesterday afternoon were generally decent, with occasional grease. The snow didn’t help, but it was beautiful.
Seems likely that the trails will be a mess for quite some time.
To answer my own question, the Ridge, Bunny Run, and Climbmax were in generally lovely condition yesterday evening. Then it rained, and continued to rain, and now who knows when they’ll be dry enough again.
Confirming that as of last night the Flats are blocked by a fence at the north end. However, there’s a makeshift path around the fence along the river. I don’t think it will take much to remove the new fencing. Such a pointless move by CN.
Prime conditions today on the Ridge, Boo, Climbmax, Bunny Run, Dirt Farm, and the Flats. The ground was entirely frozen around 1pm.
