Chainline is a good start for sure. Are you using the SRAM chainring? If not, does your ring have the correct offset? What cranks?
The chain length looks ok, could perhaps lose a link yet. Unless this is a dually, where you need to account for dynamic ride position vs static. B-tension is clutch on the 12 speed stuff and every turn to…[Read more]
Glad you are getting out @carpetbomber
Yeah, someone is getting out when it’s soft ’cause it’s a cross-rutted mess in the south. Most is still good but judging by the rut left behind, is was way soft when buddy decided to ride. North is mostly untouched and rolling great. I was in and out before the sun hit the permafrost. It was really…[Read more]
Thanks for the update @carpetbomber That’s a real drag about the QEW, might be time to alter that lower loop. More of a lollipop at the top and bottom than an out and back.
Thanks for clearing the trails! Nice work removing the metal. Thanks! My neighbour got to the down trees in the northern loop today. What great trail fairies you guys…[Read more]
Thanks as always for your help @allantats
For others interested in helping, the area that needs trimming back most now is the north-west section between Eglington and Matheson From the entrance behind Bell to the exit. The large tree at the exit has been cut out. There is one more to be removed that we’ll get at with the chainsaw. . Right n…[Read more]
Rolled through earlier this week before the rain. Trails were a dust bowl so this moisture should be a welcomed change. Ran into @carpetbomber hard at work cutting back the brush, with a straight up kitchen knife no less 🙂 That’s dedication. If others had half that initiative the place would be dialled.
Overall, other than the tree down…[Read more]
Thanks for the update @carpetbomber. I was through there yesterday as well and noticed the same thing. I typically turn around at the road crossing so didn’t experience the interruption.
Dirt scooter had been in just ahead of me. Took all the turns wide and was in the rhubarb the whole way through. Seems to have come in and out from…[Read more]
Primo out there last night. Southern section is and a huge shout out to @carpetbomber (and perhaps others) who have been working hard to tame the mange! Ran into him when we were both out cleaning up debris/branches after the last wind storm. Feel free to give them a virtual high five or better yet, if you see them on the trail, some much…[Read more]
@carpetbomber good running into you last night. Thanks again for your efforts. Hope to be back in the saddle and on the trail this week!
Curious to know where was the trail blocked this time?
I too am worried about construction blocking the Southern portion of the trail at some point. My understanding is that the access under the bridge will…[Read more]
Out with a buddy last night and the weather (and trails) were sublime. The drainage work and armouring that was done last year has really helped! Needs more in some places, but that is another story.
Cleared/ opened up the Bloordale sidetrail from post storm blow down and debris. There was a huge Spruce down right at the beginning which is now…[Read more]
Where is that @carpetbomber ?
I rode the northern loop as part of a bigger 130km ride yesterday. Some drainage issues were repaired by another rider, thanks. Lots of trees down after the recent storm.
At this time of year I am almost solely a night rider – hit me up if you ever want to ride. Always much nicer and safer this time of year to ride with another. Always happy to have another rider along.
Sounds like @carpetbomber?
Hope you go out again this morning. Glorious weather on this rather somber day.
Unfortunately I won’t be there tonight. I am taking my wife (date night!) to Wvrst for the Ontario Cider Week tap takeover – such an awesome event!
If not tonight be happy to join up with you at another time @rockydenis – Welcome to RFG!

Hey Westenders, we need to nail down our ride details for the big show on April 30th. I am good with the big loop starting from Marie Curtis. What time shall we start? I propose later in the day then we can all regroup and maybe share a ride down to the pub.
We need to get this nailed down so that we can print and roll out the poster with…[Read more]
Hey guys @carpetbomber might chime in here with regards to the whole midfat, plus size discussion.
Not sure if y’all saw this thread:
He put a set of Bontrager Chupacabra 29×3.0 on his rigid HT. Haven’t heard too much more from him with regard to how it works(ed) in the snow since we…[Read more]
Thanks @carpetbomber I thought that might be the spot you were referring to. If anyone happens to run in to these folks perhaps we could steer them in the right direction ie. not cutting off access to the actual trail that runs through there. A little education between users groups can go a long way.
Further to that, if they are building right…[Read more]
Hey @carpetbomber can’t picture where you mean? On the East side? Is it North or South of Queensway.
Thanks for you efforts in there. I know there is a group of jumpers that build on the West side just above the old bridge – quite often those jumps get washed out when the Creek floods. Perhaps they are back at it.
Once you get one and as long as you use it, you probably won’t want to go without again.
I picked up a used KS Lev after following a fellow rider around Hardwood Hills who had a dropper.
He made all the techy stuff look so easy while I was doing my best to not kill myself. The next day I was on the search for a dropper.
As I mostly ride in…[Read more]
