With all the rain we had a few days ago there has been some flooding in the low parts. Lots of tree stumps and debris. I cleared some today but have to go back in with a saw.
To anyone that wants to go through the construction site under the QEW in marry Curtis you can. Just be extra cautious not to run into any construction workers. I guess…[Read more]
I picked up a Milwaukee brushless hedge trimmer with 2 9ah batteries and a bike trailer. I started at the old historical bridge and got as far as the metro ridge. The trails were so overgrown this year it was a wall off vegetation. It would be cool if some one went threw with a weed Wacker. You can only go so low with a trimmer. I’m going to…[Read more]
Parts of the trail are starting to wash out at the beginning of Dundas heading south.
Been in there doing some cleaning up. I also benched the Metro ridge. I left the shovel close by in some tree roots if anyone needs to work on something.
Someone has groomed the trails from the lake up the old historical bridge. No fat bike needed. Also the big fenced off area close to the lake with the water tower is now open. Going out again before the warm up sloppy mess.
Trying to figure out a slight problem I’m having with a Sram NX eagle install. I have some chain noise in the lower gears. Shifting through the hole cassette is butter smooth. B tension is good. Chain length looks good here are some pics.
The rear hub is a bikehubstore M270 which has been great for a low end mountain bike hub.
I just got back from a ride in the creek. Everything was great except for the person who thought it would be a good idea to ride before the deep freeze. The ridge at the Metro is in real bad shape. Some spots are probably going to need a work around cause they are going to get washed out. Get out there if you can the trails are primo.
I should have enough bushing left to cut out 2 top and bottoms. My cutting guide worked great the first time. Second set of bushings were a little off. So i used the old bushing, the aluminum ones as a guide to file down. @fasttimes if you want i can cut you a set out. No problem with me more people testing something out the better.
So my…[Read more]
You might want to take a look at https://www.outboundlighting.com/ I heard these lights are suppose to be real good.
For my light setup i have been using the gloworm x2 1500 Lumen. Its the older model with the power button on a extra wire. The new versions are a lot cleaner with a wireless remote. I like the option of changing the lenses on…[Read more]
My bushing have finally came in from the UK. Still waiting on my brass keys. Still need a few items before i attempt the rebuild. So i ended up getting 2 basic reverb rebuild kits for $20 each. I got a new 6″ vice. Park tool soft jaw inserts. IFP height tool. Oil height tool.
A guide for steering tubes or handle bars is very useful to…[Read more]
The signs are back up for access under the QEW bridge saying its closed until 2021. Still open but i have a feeling they are going to fence the hole area off limits.
I did a little cleaning up awhile back under the queens-way bridge. I removed the metal fencing on the ground and went through the hole area with a big speaker magnet cleaning up…[Read more]
You definitely need the right tools before you attempt the rebuild that’s for sure. I think most the horror stories are from people crushing parts of the post sticking them in a vice without soft jaw inserts. I might just get a new bench vice myself its a little small and has broken jaws. I’ll make my own jaw inserts to clamp round parts for…[Read more]
I have 2 reverb stealth posts that im going to rebuild myself. Being stubborn and instead of having a bike shop doing the work and costing around $200 each. Im not even going to bother getting a full service kit cause most of the parts are just o rings. I found some polymer bushings for the top at bottom for around $38. I can make 5 each top…[Read more]
Awesome work guys. I road through the northern loop for the first time this year. Needs lots of work its crazy overgrown.
Looks like the Marry Curtis trail entrance has been opened up. I rode over the new bridge.
Thanks @fietser the conditions have been amazing in there lately. I would also like to thank the persons that are aslo doing some clearing. Starting to get a little over grown in some spots. I’ll try to clean some of that up. l’m surprised to see barley anyone riding in there. Just a heads up i have found nails kinda hidden in the sand…[Read more]
Im starting to get worried about the construction close to the old historical bridge and at the end of Dundas. No idea what that is about. Hopefully they don’t block off trail access. Speaking of blocking trials. Found more blocked trail. Crazy how fast the vegetation pops up. Need to start cutting back lol.
