Agreed. It also hasn’t rained much this spring. Everything, not just the Don, is a dust bowl. No complaints though, its been great to get out so much this early in the season.
Be safe everyone!

Great to hear you got out @allantats You’re right, the trails are much busier. Dog park getting washed out is a bummer and the do come much further south, on both eat and west side now.
We’ve been slowly chipping away at maintenance. The north still needs a lot of love. Not as simple these days with enforcement in the parks and trails.…[Read more]

I’ve seen that guy in there before. Not sure what his deal is.
Rolled through top to bottom yesterday, place is a dust bowl. Stopped and tweaked a few things along the way. Trail are good overall.
Massive BMX double built up smack dab in the middle on the trail on the northeast side of Burnhamthorpe. Its completely blocked the trail and has no…[Read more]

Conditions are pretty decent overall. Few greasy spots, but not soft enough to cause damage. The elevator shaft bypass on Catalyst can be pretty exhilarating when wet.
There is a tree down on BOT, just before the double.
New Trash Panda trail is pretty dope and makes for a great loop. Some greasy spots and a few blow corners but overall a…[Read more]

I’ll find you the coordinates @sangerasong
It’s at the base of the big hill along the 401 where the construction is. After the rock pile.
I’ll get something more specific for ya if that doesn’t help.

Found some elevation up there yesterday. Killer loop. Feeling this one today however. Only saw a few walkers/hikers and came across maybe a dozen cars the whole day. 99% of the route was gravel with excellent special sections.

Urban loops are a shit show. Despite my best efforts to maintain distance, there are simply too many folks out for it to be possible. With everything closed this is expected.
To still get out but maintain safe distance, I’ve been heading a bit further north to Caledon, Mono and Creemore. Just me and endless gravel and road allowances. Rail…[Read more]

Nice work @sangerasong. I checked out the loop last week. LOTS of work to be done. She’s blow!
The trails most damaged seem to be Meglington (before the open field) and Matheson loop. The creek must have really overflowed at some point as the loop on Meglington is completely washed out. You cant even see the correct flow of the trail. It’s…[Read more]

Was it drying up in there much @sangerasong I have been staying out to let the moisture come out but we’ve had some warm days. South was really muddy when I checked last.

Yeah, it’s frustrating. I’ve been driving an hour north to ride gravel to allow for adequate space and to also ensure the trails setup instead of rut up. I see lots of folk in there in my feed. I’m sure there are great sections but that’s not he point.
Just like with this pandemic, its about doing your part in the short term so we all enjoy…[Read more]

Went for a spin yesterday and dipped into the creek at a few spots. In short, it was peanut butter. Even though it was 0 degrees and overcast when I was out, the permafrost was still pushing through. Was snot on glass – grease film on top of frozen base. Will be a bit yet I think.
Be safe folks..

Thanks for the update @carpetbomer I’ve been riding along the path and testing the odd dirt section when possible. Its still muddy but drying up quickly. With the moto kids off work/school its likely not going to improve. Having the log down at the trail head seemed to help the last few years. maybe something to consider. I dont mind the odd…[Read more]

Thanks for the update. Wont be long now. I suspect the pandemic will have more folks out early but luckily the trails are nearly ready. Early is best for sure.

Few more recon rides in the books. Went a bit further west for one of the loops. Everything was decent that way. I came back up near the Culham trail. It looks great but still wet, so stayed off. Same goes for Etobicoke Creek. Other ride was along the Humber, which still has some snow and ice. Its passable but I guess it depends what level…[Read more]

Ive got an early version of this Ultimate bike stand. I’ve had it for decads with zero issues. Packed it up to take to races and trips with good success.
Looks like Sweet Petes sells them:

Ive been getting out to see what’s passable. Some areas are absolutely mint while others are still a mix of snow, dirt and ice. The Humber in particular is still a mess. Basically, shaded areas that have received any kind of winter traffic are still sloppy.
Ive been scouting my goto northern and southern loops and plan to connect them…[Read more]

Trails have been great but I think will be a wee bit soft this weekend and beyond. Planning on some exploring this weekend. West end loop, bit of everything. Bit of a slushy snirt. Happy to have others join.
Happy trails!
