On Saturday, April 30th, Don Vivants and Ridingfeelsgood.com are organizing a free, whole-day cycling event to kick off the riding season. Multiple group rides will converge for a post-ride party with live bands at Amsterdam Brewery.

2-6 p.m. — Group rides in Toronto’s nature trail network (urban-city, mountain, cyclocross, road) with starting locations in Etobicoke Creek, Waterfront and Don Valley. Some of the confirmed rides will be led by Ridingfeelsgood (Etobicoke Creek to Don), Wild Betty’s (women’s MTB), Sacred Rides (MTB), Lantern Rouge (cyclo-cross) and a citizen’s group ride departing from Trinity-Bellwoods Park with our friend KLNR leading the way.

6-10 p.m. — Post-ride party with live bands at Amsterdam Brewery (45 Esandar Drive). Good Enough, a live karaoke band will be playing hits from Miley Cyrus to Misfits. More bands/acts are to be announced.

Amsterdam will be serving $4 beers and there will be food trucks onsite, to be announced. Jacked Up Coffee’s vintage truck will be there.

Some of our favourite bike shops will be there—Cycle Solutions will be offering tune-ups outside the brewery and Sweet Pete’s will have some things to give away. Cycle Toronto will provide Bike Valet parking on site.

We are looking for your input and suggestions about how to make this event even more exciting. Leave your comments below or go to the forum post to engage with other cyclists:

    Arrange your own group ride
    Suggest and discuss ride routes
    Request songs for Good Enough
    Post up and show up!

Looking forward to either a ECreek ride or actual ride across the city from the West end. Pub Crawl? I’m leaning towards big ECreek ride and cab down. Not into partying in bike diapers. Thought? Who’s in form the west end?

@fasttimes Not everyone at the party is going to smell fresh, so it’s OK. You should ride!

Also, it would be cool if the West End ride could arrange to meet with the Trinity Bellwoods ride (led by our pied piper, KLNR) to show them the way to the Brewery?

This is going to be huge – can’t wait! And my singletrack-phobic wife is keen to join up with a paved ride before the party.

Speaking of song requests for Good Enough live karaoke—here’s their current set list. Tim said that they would learn any songs we requested.

    Who’s singing what?

This will be legendary. Can’t wait to hear some of these. When do you get to sing your fav songs with your own band???

I’m nominating you to sing Minor Threat. Maybe Cro-Mags as a consolation, but ideally Minor Threat. And you can encore with The Undertones.

    I’m there.

    Suggestion, if I may:
We could ride the Creek in a big ‘ol loop. Start off at Marie Curtis (Woody’s for a pre ride pint on the patio while people congregate?) head up the West side of the Creek to Dundas. Continue up the West side once across Burnamthorpe all the way up to 401 and then back down to Marie Curtis along the East side (which I personally thinks rides best North to South anyway).

I think it could be fun to ride it this way – I know @aerius and I have done it a few times. The only section you would have to double back on would be the short section of road around the Golf Course.

As for Karaoke, going to have to be a Fracture or Boneshaker kind of night rather than Cruiser to get me up singing!

@matty-f Thank you for the nomination. Will consider Minor Threat’s song “Minor Threat”, but I’ll have change the lyrics to “Senior Threat”. Cro-Mags is a solid choice too.

Currently I’m leaning towards “Boys Don’t Cry” except Sheer Terror’s cover, with intro, of course.

I’ll set up a bike themed art station! I’ve got a freshly painted white frame that needs a little “personality” and who better to help than you guys?

    Other ideas (not necessarily mine)
Slowest Bike Race™ in the parking lot.

Genius idea @jcitizen! Will you let me replicate @the-maestro‘s head badge on your frame? This riddle is still unresolved.

I actually wanna put my old Kona headbadge back on, but other than that there are no rules other than no repetition.

The Cycling Gym is looking to run a road ride as part of the festivities. We’re thinking something in the 50km range looping through the city. Might be a good way to explore some of the cool loops and routes that can make for a decent road ride in the city. We’re wondering who is interested?
