Born and raised in Toronto’s pastoral Hogg’s Hollow, McBain cut his off-road cycling teeth riding around and in the Don River. Now living and teaching in Toronto but in need of daily doses of “outside”, he and his family are Don Valley regulars – on foot, bike, skis, snowshoes, toboggan and skates.

Colin Field has three loves; bikes, skis and beer. And so far his career as a writer/photographer is going as planned; riding, skiing or drinking are all technically ‘work.’ With Bachelor degrees in both anthropology and journalism it is his most recent scholarly achievement that hangs on his office wall; graduating from the Siebel Institute’s Concise Course in Brewing Technology. Currently the editor of Mountain Life magazine, Colin lives in the tiny town of Clarksburg, Ontario where his friends and family make skiing, biking and drinking in the Beaver Valley a constant exploration of good times.

A recent ‘fatbike’ convert, I enjoy pushing my mental and physical limits in the harsh winter months. From Marathon XC Fatbike Races, to winter ‘ultra-endurance events,’ I love riding when other people are cuddled in their blanket. In the warmer months, my passion lies with long-track XC racing and gravel-grinding. Whichever bike I can throw a leg over is a good one, but it ought to be fast and comfortable. The longer I am out on two wheels, the better.

Timothy Charles is a Toronto, Ontario based professional trail builder and founder of the Toronto Off Road Bicycling Association (TORBA). Timothy is passionate about mountain biking and has been leading Tuesday and Thursday group rides in the Don Valley since 2007.
