Just got back from the Don. First singletrack ride of the year. (been patiently waiting)
Mint. Hero dirt. See attached tire photo.
Mint. A bit of water over the concrete slabs which is normal.
Glad to see the construction go away. However the big berm under the bridge is a mess. Looks slippery and is rutted to hell. I chose to walk around it.…[Read more]
This winter I decided to invest in a smart trainer; Tacx Flux. I never used a trainer and am still learning more and more about cycling. I decided to use a free for all approach to understand indoor training. Hell, I still haven’t tried a road bike and trainers are mostly centered around road cycling. so this was an excellent learning experience.…[Read more]
Thanks for the details. You are right about the crossover if they introduce another LT model. I’ll use your post as ammo for a friend who just bought a Tallboy a month ago and wanting to sell it for the Blur.
Great review and love the shots. I wonder if a Blur LT with Fox 34/dropper is in the works.
How did you find the new Maxxis Aspen during the demo? I know they are definitely fast rolling but I am curious about how the side knobs hook up compare to Ikon. I read a statement from Maxxis that they revamped the tire this year by applying Nino’s…[Read more]
If anyone is headed to Tremblant and terribly misses winter riding, there is tonnes of that. Snow is grainy, fast and grippy even after a full day of rain. Some patches of glare ice which can be avoided or carefully traversed.
I bought the Tacx Flux last year around September and firmly believe it is the best $1000 I’ve spent on cycling. Smart trainers are the way to go! To date I have nearly 2000 km on it and I enjoyed every bit of it. I have my old triple ring mountain bike mounted on it with 42/11 max gearing and it works great. Lately I’ve been doing some…[Read more]
@fasttimes great article on the SC factory tour. I was presented an opportunity to demo the Santa Cruz Reserve wheel set so I will most likely check them out. Lifetime warranty is definitely nice to have. WAC looks pretty near as well but appears to be targeted towards all mountain riding.
I am looking to upgrade my current DT Swiss M1700 wheelset for something lighter and more snappy. The M1700s are around 1800g+ and to justify the upgrade I want something much lighter. I really miss my lightweight feel of my 26″ Mavic Crossmax SL and have the itch for some carbon. My budget is around $2000 so I am putting together a list of wheels…[Read more]
Just rode there tonight and it was excellent. Lower temps made the dirt like sandpaper.
On the topic of Dagmar there is going to be a board meeting on Sunday so let’s see what the outcome is. We can enjoy that connector while it lasts.
