2016 was a big year at the Blue Mountain Bike Park. We welcomed the return of Canada Cup Downhill Racing to Ontario, hosted a full week of clinics with Geoff Gulevich, saw major trailwork completed on O-Chute, Fresh Air and Minion’s Rush, and were stoked to see such a great response to our end-of-year Rider Survey.
Looking ahead to 2017, we have a lot to get excited about. Here are the Coles Notes for the season, starting with the biggest news of the year!
- The Blue Mountain Bike Park will be open 7 days/week from Opening Weekend to Closing Day, taking our season from 114 days to 144 days.
- Trail Crew will be breathing life back into a classic trail, so don’t just stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to, because Waterfall is coming back and we want to see you out there chasing it.
- East Coast Open Canada Cup Downhill returns, and gets the ball rolling right after Opening Weekend on May 26-28.
- The MEC Canadian National Enduro Series makes its way to Ontario for the first time ever on June 25. This race is also part of the North American Enduro Tour and an Enduro World Series Qualifier.
Of course, the elephant in the room is the opening of the Southern Comfort lift for biking. Based on the survey results, it’s obvious that the addition of another lift is something that a lot of our riders are hoping for. While it’s not going to be happening this summer, we’re committed to growing the sport of mountain biking in Ontario and providing a great experience for our riders.
2017 Bike Park Season Passes go on sale Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Bike Show Special rate of $259 +HST. Prices increase to the Early Bird rate of $299 +HST on Monday, March 6, so don’t miss out! TL:DR? More days. More trails. More events.
